What Bow & Budget does
Most gift guides are a pile of products with a price range attached loosely enough that half the list breaks it. Bow & Budget sets the ceiling first: best under $25, under $50, under $100, under $250, and nothing that busts the number gets in. The other axis is the recipient — him, her, dad, mom, wife, husband, a teenager, the coworker you drew in a Secret Santa, the person who already owns everything — because that is the way people actually arrive at the problem. Watches and accessories are where it goes deepest, from field and dive and dress watches down to wallets, leather goods, sunglasses and everyday carry.
What it refuses to do is the more useful half. It does not claim hands-on testing: the site says in plain words that it has not worn or owned these products and never implies it has, and its editor does not claim a horological qualification or years in the watch trade he does not have. There are no star ratings and no review counts, on the grounds that a score from a site that has not tested the product is decoration pretending to be evidence. There are no testimonials, because the site is new and has none. And there are no prices in the copy — prices go stale, so every pick links to the live listing where the number is current.
That is why it is in this portfolio.
